Over 163,000 meals were packed by Summit Rotarians for the food insecure in Guilford County in 2015!
Meal packing events through Meals of Hope have become one of our signature service projects at Summit Rotary. Meals of Hope is a 501(c)3 that started with the idea of making nutritious meals available to children that are hungry and facing food insecurity right here in our community. To a child who is dealing with the stress and insecurity of not knowing how or when they will receive their next meal, a comforting bowl of Macaroni and Cheese or Beans and Rice (both fortified with soy protein and 21 vitamins and minerals), provides a bit of hope to carry them through another day. Since 2012, Summit Rotary has been involved in holding meal packing events twice a year. It is a fun event—working with fellow club members to package these meals—and is extremely rewarding to see how many meals we can provide to those in need!
