A preliminary survey was made of the Summit area and excellent potentialities were indicated. Were indicated. It was decided at this time that it might be of special advantage to the future growth of Rotary in rapidly growing Greensboro if a three-sector survey of the entire City of Greensboro, including environs, could be made.
On October 9, 1956 a meeting of the Rotary Extension Committee was held to analyze the results of the three-sector survey. It was decided that the Summit Area offered the best immediate potential for establishment of a Rotary Club.
A recommendation was presented to the Board of Directors to proceed with the establishment of a Rotary club in the Summit Area, which was approved.
Summit Rotary Club was established January 24, 1957 and chartered on February 25, 1957 with a membership of 22 members."
